Az Állatorvosi Híradó 1959. november 30-tól jelent meg havonta, 20–26 oldal terjedelemben, 460–500 példányszámban. A lap az oktatásról, nevelésről és kutatómunkáról közölt cikkeket, de az ideológiai-politikai agitáció sem állt távol tőle. Csak hír- és sportrovata volt állandó. Olykor nemcsak tudósított, hanem javaslatokat, kritikákat és vitaanyagokat is közzétett. Az irodalmi babérokra vágyó hallgatók itt publikálhatták alkotásaikat. Az évek, évtizedek múlásával vékonyodtak a számok. Az utolsót 1991 szeptemberében vehették kézbe olvasói.
