Horn Artúr Kairóban született 1911. március 24-én és Budapesten halt meg 2003. november 24-én. A magyar állattenyésztés és genetika meghatározó tudósa, nemzetközileg elismert szaktekintélye volt. Széleskörű műveltséget szerzett. Kiválóan beszélt angolul, franciául és németül, ezért nemzetközi konferenciákon gyakran mint többnyelvű tolmács vett részt.
