Wellmann Oszkár (1876–1943) az állattenyésztést kutatta és tanította. Monostori Károly (1852–1917) nyugdíjba vonulása után vette át az Állattenyésztési Tanszék vezetését 1908-ban. Felfedezéseit, kutatási eredményeit nemcsak hazai, hanem külföldi fórumokon is előadta. Kidolgozta a szarvasmarhák törzskönyvezésének tudományos és gyakorlati tapasztalatokkal megalapozott módszertanát. Hutӱra Ferenc (1860–1934) után ő töltötte be a főiskola rektori tisztségét 1931 és 1933 között. Súlyos betegség okozta hirtelen bekövetkező halálát.
